The Long Road to Nowhere: Day 3

January 14, 2009 (Wednesday)

My patch fell off in the shower.  Maybe the shoulder isn’t the best place to put these things.  I stuck a fresh one on my side, and I have to admit, the burning-itching feeling seems to be getting worse with every new patch.  It subsides after a few minutes, though, so its kind of a wash.

I’m still having a problem with the ganja.  Part of me wants to get rid of everything just to be done with it, but there’s another part of me that just wants to smoke it all, as if that were a soultion.  The instructions to my patches said you have to want to quit, and I think that’s true.

I get to see my boyfriend tomorrow though.  At least he can keep me motivated to stay clean.

The Long Road to Nowhere: Day 2

January 13, 2009 (Tuesday)

4:20 means its time to change my patch.  I was back at the same Wal-Mart I started from, this time with my little brother K in tow (we were birthday shopping for my dad).  The alarm on my phone went off and I decided to change in the car again.  I peeled the fresh patch off its foil backing and gave it to my brother to smell. The Long Road to Nowhere: Day 1

Hello World

January 12, 2009 (Monday)

Hello internets! I started this blog to track my progress while I quit smoking. I also find writing to be cathartic, and needed a place to gab about software development or odd dreams, so here it is. I thought I would introduce myself to the blogosphere this way; there’s no Miss Manners of blogging etiquette (unless you count Cory Doctorow), so this seemed like the proper thing to do.

To be honest, I’d rather not write anything too descriptive about myself – I do wish to maintain some level of privacy. I will say, though, that I’m a college student in my mid-twenties, mixed-race, gay, no longer single, and no longer a cigarette smoker. I’ll be writing to the best of my ability (mostly), and I welcome your comments, whatever they may be.

Yours,

T
